Corrosion - The degradation of metal over time as the surface interacts with oxygen, water and acid gases. The metal tries to go back to its natural state. As a result, rust can form on unprotected metal parts within hours.

How Zerust® Corrosion Prevention Technology Works

Zerust® corrosion inhibiting vapor molecules passivate the electrons in elements that degrade metal like oxygen, water and acid gases.

The molecules of protective vapor from the Zerust® film are emitted into the enclosed area of the bag or film. The vapor saturates the air and bonds with the metal to form protective barrier on all exposed metal surfaces. The vapor dissipates when the enclosure is opened, but saturates the air again after each closing.

Interesting Facts:

• The VCI layer on a metal part can be as thin as one to two molecules
• When exposed to air the vapor disappears completely within two hours
• Zerust® film inhibits corrosion on metal for up to five years

Correct Packing and Handling Instructions

1. All packs must be tightly closed to restrict airflow.
2. When packing, the temperature of the parts being packaged must be the same as the current room temperature.
3. Interleave Zerust® sheets to provide separation between metal surfaces.
4. Avoid direct contact of metal with wood, paper or cardboard! Cover intermediate layers with Zerust®!
5. Always wear clean and dry glove before handing metal parts.
6. Pack only clean and dry parts.
